Niji Talabon Ka Jirnoddhar Ki Yojana

Details

The Government of Bihar launched the 'Niji Talabon Ka Jirnoddhar Ki Yojana' to enhance the water holding capacity of private ponds, so as to boost fish productivity and production. The scheme benefits private fish farmers through the expansion and renovation of ponds they own or hold on long lease, and is implemented by the Directorate of Fisheries, Animal and Fisheries Resources Department.

Benefits

• Grant-in-aid towards the cost of renovating a private pond, subject to the unit cost fixed by the department.
• Higher rate of assistance for applicants belonging to SC, ST and other reserved categories.
• Technical guidance from the District Fisheries Officer on pond design and stocking.

Eligibility

1. The applicant must be a permanent resident of Bihar.
2. The applicant must own the pond, or hold it on a registered lease for the minimum period notified by the department.
3. The pond must be a private water body in need of renovation, not a newly constructed one.
4. The pond area must meet the minimum size prescribed under the scheme.
5. The applicant must not have received assistance for the same pond under any other scheme.

Application Process

1. Apply online on the Fisheries Department portal of the Government of Bihar.
2. Attach the land or lease records for the pond along with the other required documents.
3. The District Fisheries Officer inspects the pond and verifies the application.
4. On approval, renovation work is carried out by the applicant.
5. Assistance is released to the applicant's bank account after post-work verification.
